We do not inherit the land from our ancestors. We borrow it from our children.
--Native American proverb

Blue Ridge Area Environmental Action is committed to providing environmentally related community education to the residents, businesses, and visitors of North Georgia's Blue Ridge mountains and to promoting sustainability. Our goal is to get the communities, residents, and visitors of this area involved in local legislation, planning, community outreach, projects, and alerts. We want to work with city and county leaders to help make our communities a place where residents, businesses, visitors and wildlife beneficially coexist.

Next BRAEA meeting:

Our next meeting will be on Thursday September 2 at 6 PM the Blue Ridge Brewery. We did think about moving our meeting to a location that was not so weather dependent, however, everyone we spoke to wanted to keep it at the Brewery! So, we'll keep it there. The rain date for the September 2nd meeting will be on Thursday September 9th.

First BRAEA Meeting

Hey everyone! We were finally able to set up our first Blue Ridge Area Environmental Action meeting! Twenty-five amazing people attended and all shared concerns, experiences and great ideas. The group is off to a great start and we will be emailing the minutes of the meeting out to everyone who is on the mailing list. A big thank you to  Blue Ridge Brewery for offering up their patio space for us (thank you Pat and Polina!). It was great that we could hold our meeting in a place where we can help support one of our local restaurants with some business.

If you have any questions or concerns you can email us or call us at 706-946-6920. We have a lot of good information to share and are anxious to get some ideas in motion! Thanks to all who attended and to all who have expressed interest in taking action toward a more direct approach to responsible environmental  awareness and efforts in the North Georgia's Blue Ridge  mountains.

If you have an article or information you would like to have share please contact braea.org so we can add it to the web site. Thank you! We need YOU!

Feed Fannin

ReLeah Lent, guest columnist for the News Observer, summarized it best.  “Feed Fannin, a group of individuals and organizations, came together to address the growing problem of hunger in Fannin County.  While our primary goal was to help others help themselves through initiatives such as community gardening and sharing resources, our underlying aspiration was to tap into the unity that has long been a part of this small town, a reliance on each other that is missing in so many larger communities.”

For more information about Feed Fannin visit feedfannin.com or come to one of the 10:00am Tuesday morning meetings at the Family Connection Center on Ada street!
